The Global Family Farming Forum will take place from 15 to 18 October 2024 at the FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy.
Five years into the United Nations Decade of Family Farming 2019-2028 (UNDFF), the Forum will celebrate family farming’s pivotal role as the backbone of diverse, innovative and dynamic agrifood systems, identify policy innovations that support family farming and showcase examples of successful experiences worldwide. The event will feature young, passionate farmers taking the lead in guiding the discussions on the key priorities for the future of agrifood systems.
Convening under the theme “Good food for all, for today and tomorrow”, the Global Family Farming Forum is held the same week as the World Food Forum. Co-organised by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the event will bring together relevant government representatives, governmental agencies, representatives of UN agencies, family farmers and their organisations, civil society and non-governmental organisations, private sector entities and academia.
As the Vice Chair of the UNDFF International Steering Committee (ISC), the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) is committed to driving forward the implementation of the Decade of Family Farming and advancing a farmer-oriented policy-making that supports family farmers and all family members, particularly women and youth. In the person of its President, Arnold Puech d’Alissac, WFO Board Member for the European Constituency, Kati Partanen, and 20 young farmers from the 4th edition of the WFO Gymnasium program, the WFO will address the Forum and advocate for the creation of an enabling political environment that enhances the resilience, sustainability, and prosperity of family farming communities across the globe.
