The 2024 session of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), will convene from July 8 to 18 at UN Headquarters in New York under the main theme “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions.”
The programme will include an in-depth review of SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
This will be the first session of the HLPF since the SDG Summit in September 2023. The 2024 HLPF will support the implementation of the Political Declaration and other outcomes of the SDG Summit to advance the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.
Ms Meena Pokhrel, Deputy General Manager at Nepal Agricultural Co-operative Central Federation Ltd. (NACCFL), will represent the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) and the Farmers’ Major Group in many official meetings, side events, and special events. She will contribute insights from the agriculture sector, emphasizing the crucial role of farmers in achieving poverty eradication, food security, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
