On November 27th, 2019, Arianna Giuliodori in her role of WFO Secretary-General attended the event “Being and well-being: Traditional diets from the Mediterranean and beyond”.
Hosted the Government of Italy with the support from FAO, this event is the second appointment of the initiative “Mediterranean Diet’s Principles for Agenda 2030” aimed at deepening understanding of the Mediterranean diet and raising awareness on how it can help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
As at the first event in September, the Director-General of FAO, Qu Dongyu, opened the discussion, followed by high-profile experts who illustrated the good healthy aspects of the different traditional food models.
This second event featured examples of Mediterranean diet from Italy, Lebanon and Portugal, and of traditional healthy diets from Japan, Kenya and Indigenous People.
