18 October 2019, Rome – WFO President Theo De Jager met with FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu in Rome on the margins of the 46th Plenary Session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS46).
Innovation, digital transformation and e-commerce, as well as youth and lively rural areas were at the heart of a fruitful exchange on the role of family farmers in the food chains of the future.
FAO is one of the WFO’s most strategic allies in mainstreaming family farmers as key actors in the global quest to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
Looking ahead, the two organisations confirmed their will to strengthen their partnership further, especially to ensure that farmers remain at the forefront of innovation in a digitalized world.
