Established in 2005, The Farmers’ Forum (FAFO) is an ongoing, bottom-up process of consultation and dialogue between organizations of small-scale farmers and rural producers from all over the world, IFAD and governments, focused on agricultural and rural development and poverty reduction.
The meeting will take place in conjunction with the 43rd session of the IFAD Governing Council.
This edition of the global FAFO is also taking place in the first year of the United Nations Decade of Family Farming (2019-2028), which puts family farming at the centre of the international agenda. The Decade constitutes a unique opportunity to work on multi-dimensional issues that are of concern to family farmers, positioning them as key agents of change in achieving the SDGs.
