Next Wednesday, October 14th, the WFO young farmers Sarah Crofoot from Federated Farmers of New Zealand, Brenda Tlhabane from the African Farmers Association of South Africa (AFASA) and Richard Bower from the National Farmers’ Union of England and Wales will be guest speakers in a special session of 2020 CLIFF-GRADS Science Collaboration Series, a series of webinars aiming at facilitating technical capability building, knowledge transfer and international collaboration for the CLIFF-GRADS Alumni.
Sarah Crofoot, Brenda Tlhabane and Richard Bower will give a brief presentation of how climate change is affecting farming in their countries and share their perspective of climate change science or policy in their country. The meeting will be most of all the occasion to share with the audience their experience as participants in the first edition of the WFO Gymnasium high-level capacity building programme.

ABOUT THE CLIFF-GRADS
The CLIFF-GRADS, Climate, Food and Farming – Global Research Alliance Development Scholarships, is a joint initiative of two important research institutions partnering with WFO: Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA) and the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS). The CLIFF-GRADS builds the capability of early-career scientists and graduate students from developing countries to conduct applied research on climate change mitigation in agriculture ) at host institutions across the world. During short research stays of up to 6 months, CLIFF-GRADS awardees are exposed to the expertise and scientific training that they would not otherwise receive during their PhD in their home country. Since 2011, a large number of students have received grants and have gone on to hold important positions in research institutions and governments.
