The 2023 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) will be held from Monday, 10 July, to Wednesday, 19 July 2023, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
The theme will be “Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels”.
Participants will be able to further discuss the effective and inclusive recovery measures to address the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and explore actionable policy guidance for the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs at all levels.
The 2023 HLPF will hold in-depth reviews of five SDGs:
- SDG 6 on clean water and sanitation,
- SDG 7 on affordable and clean energy,
- SDG 9 on industry, innovation and infrastructure,
- SDG 11 on sustainable cities and communities,
- SDG 17 on partnerships for the Goals.
It will also support the mid-term review of the implementation of the SDGs and the preparations for the 2023 SDG Summit to be convened under the auspices of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in September 2023.
The WFO Board Member for the African Constituency, Ms Elizabeth Nsimadala, will join the event together with other representatives of the Farmers’ Major Group to ensure the global farmers’ voice will be heard clearly and loud and that farmers’ experiences, needs, expectations and constraints regarding the implementation of the 2030 Agenda will be taken into account in the outcomes of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.
