On June 26th and 27th, 2019, the town of Schkeuditz, in the Free State of Saxony, Germany, welcomed around 500 delegates from all over Germany, who came together to join the 87th German Farmers’ Day, organized and promoted by DBV.
Under the theme “Change needs reliability”, the event provided a venue to discuss the future of agriculture. “We are ready for change and need reliable and long-term framework conditions to maintain the competitiveness of the companies. Change needs reliability!”, said the DBV President, Joachim Rukwied.
During the two-days event, farmers, scientists and politicians talked about the challenges of agriculture: climate protection and biodiversity as well as future and competitiveness were the top topics of the debate.
The High-level representatives who addressed the gathering included among others: the Federal Minister for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, Julia Klöckner; the Prime Minister of the Free State of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer, and the President of the World Farmers’ Organisation, Theo de Jager.
