For the seventh time this year, at the invitation of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), 10 young farmers from WFO Member Organisations across the globe joined the annual Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA), participating in the International Young Farmers’ Forum.
From January 18 to 21, the group had the opportunity to discuss, share their visions and exchange their experiences on the GFFA 2023 theme “Food Systems Transformation: A Worldwide Response to Multiple Crises”.
It is worth highlighting that Ketevan Kotsotsashvili from the Georgian WFO Member Organisation Association for Farmers Rights Defense (AFRD) brought the young farmers’ input to the panel discussion during the official kick-off event of GFFA 2023 on Thursday, 19 January. WATCH THE LIVE RECORDING
Moreover, the Young Farmers Forum’s participants worked on a joint statement that two group representatives, Chengeto Muzira from Zimbabwe and Andrés Alvarado from Costa Rica, delivered at this year’s Berlin Agriculture Ministers’ Conference in front of over 70 Ministers of Agriculture from all over the world.
“Young farmers are our present and our future. Nothing gives me more emotion than knowing there is a generation of passionate and energetic future farmers’ leaders willing and committed to boosting the entire agricultural sector towards a sustainable future for all: our farmers, our people, our planet,” commented the WFO President Mr Arnold Puech d’Alissac.
